“Come on over here, baby, I want to do a thing with you.” - A Cop, arresting a non-groovy person after the revolution, Firesign Theater (istg I didn’t do this on purpose)
For the record, Ryan was as nervous as he could be. Starting a relationship had never actually been his strong suit. But Shawn was incredible. They’d been best friends ever since they met, and Ryan just felt something click. He knew it wouldn’t be easy, but he was sure if he feigned confidence and stuck to a small plan he had devised, it would work out okay.
It was the reason why he was here now, sitting on a bench by the nearby park, waiting for Shawn to meet him there. It was a routine place for them to meet, so Shawn wouldn’t expect anything out of the ordinary.
When he saw him Ryan stood up and met him halfway. “Hey, there you are.”
It wasn’t unusual for the two of them to meet up, it really wasn’t. That’s why he didn’t suspect a thing when they met up in the park. Shawn had been slightly late, but when he arrived, he saw Ryan stand up to meet him halfway.
When he stood up, Shawn allowed his eyes to linger for a second on his chest. He couldn’t help it; Ryan was an incredibly handsome man. Handsome, sexy, hot, and someone he loved to call his friend. But at the same time, “friend” didn’t seem like it was quite right. It was like a piece of a puzzle; Shawn found a place to put it, but it didn’t seem to fit quite right. He figured he was the only one to feel this way, so he didn’t say anything.
“Sorry for bein’ late, I was held up. Court just took Em home for a bit, so I saw them off before I came here. But I’m here now. What’s goin’ on?”
Ryan rubbed the back of his neck. He glanced at Shawn, trying not to make it seem like he was staring even though he so blatantly was. Stick to plan, he told himself. He rolled his shoulders back, and feigned confidence.
“I wanted to ask you if you’d like to join me for dinner.” He smiled, ignoring the heat rushing to his cheeks. “If you’re not too busy, of course.” It was stereotypical, and he knew it. But Ryan was more of an old fashioned guy anyways. He just hoped Shawn was too.
