3. Your muse just tried to drown mine.

Shawn honestly didn’t understand why Ryan had asked him out here, but he wasn’t about to argue. Swimming in the lake seemed like a nice getaway, a good time to relax and enjoy the time with each other.

His mind didn’t register it at first, when Ryan pushed him under the water. Shawn thought it was gonna be a game, that he was just pulling a prank or something. But when Shawn tapped him to signal the other to let him up, he was pushed down further, and alarm ran through Shawn’s being.

Grabbing the blonde man’s leg, he pulled hard, forcing him to buckle and fall into the water. He let go of Shawn, which made the killer rise to the surface, huffing and puffing for air. When the other rose out of the water, it was safe to say “furious” was an understatement. Ryan! What the fuck was that?! You almost fucking killed me!

Those two words, “Did I?” pissed him off like no tomorrow. His teeth grit together, and he grabbed Ryan a bit roughly, dragging him to the shore and not saying anything. He was pissed, beyond pissed. He barely wanted to look at Ryan, but he did, staying quiet as the other continued to cough up water. Normally he would have rubbed his back, soothed him or something, but at the moment he was furious. No, not really. He was hurt, which came out as anger. What had he done to Ryan to make him try to kill him?

“Okay. We’re gonna try this the calm way,” Shawn said, slowly, trying to keep his anger under control. “Why did you try to kill me? I clearly tapped you to let me go, I couldn’t fuckin’ breathe. What the hell—” he took a deep breath before continuing. “What were you thinkin’? Was it really an accident? Or were you tryin’ to pull somethin’ from me?”

He watched Shawn stare him down like he was lunatic, and maybe at that moment he was. But he had to know exactly what was going on with Shawn. The way he had reacted was fast–incredibly fast. It was also precise and trained. There was absolutely no way a normal person could’ve done that. He decided to answer honestly.

“I just wanted to see what you’d do,” he responded once he caught his breath. Ryan sent a glare at Shawn. “You haven’t been honest with me. Granted, I had a very unorthodox way of finding out, but–” Ryan stood to his feet. He arched an eyebrow, waiting for an answer.
