3. Your muse just tried to drown mine.

Shawn honestly didn’t understand why Ryan had asked him out here, but he wasn’t about to argue. Swimming in the lake seemed like a nice getaway, a good time to relax and enjoy the time with each other.

His mind didn’t register it at first, when Ryan pushed him under the water. Shawn thought it was gonna be a game, that he was just pulling a prank or something. But when Shawn tapped him to signal the other to let him up, he was pushed down further, and alarm ran through Shawn’s being.

Grabbing the blonde man’s leg, he pulled hard, forcing him to buckle and fall into the water. He let go of Shawn, which made the killer rise to the surface, huffing and puffing for air. When the other rose out of the water, it was safe to say “furious” was an understatement. Ryan! What the fuck was that?! You almost fucking killed me!

Ryan knew what he had to do. He knew from the start of their friendship that Shawn was, well, hiding something. Ryan had to figure out what it was, or whether or not it was dangerous to people around Shawn.

Perhaps he could’ve thought of a better plan than trying to kill him, but Ryan needed to know how he would react in a fight or flight situation. The lake was an easy relaxing spot, nearly deserted in the middle of the day, and deep enough for what he was about to do.

He pushed Shawn’s head under, holding it steady when the man began to struggle, and just before Ryan thought he was making a mistake and would actually succeed in drowning someone, he felt Shawn grab his leg and pull, hard. He stumbled, falling into the water and releasing Shawn as he inhaled the murky water. When he came out, sputtering and choking, Shawn’s face was a fiery red. “But I didn’t,” Ryan responded, coughing out the water in his lungs, “Did I?"
