Ray felt awful about all this. Absolutely terrible. Just seeing his friend in the hospital was bad enough, but knowing he was in so much pain..Ray couldn’t be in the room when they took the X-Rays, so he stood right outside and burst in when they were done. Ryan’s arm had been stitched up, and the next thing to do was reset his arm.
“Ryan, this is gunna hurt real bad, but it’ll only be for a second. I’m gunna count down from 3, and then they’re gunna reset your arm.” Ray was holding his other hand, on the other side of the bed. “3..2..1.” The doctor grabbed his arm and tugged, popping his bone back into place.
Ryan held in a shout as they reset his arm. His vision blanched for a second, but already he could feel the pain of the misplaced bone subsiding just a little. “That wasn’t so bad,” Ryan grumbled.
He glanced up at Ray above him. It could’ve been worse, he thought. At least he had a familiar face beside him, and someone who knew what they were doing. He’d get through this. He squeezed Ray’s hand reassuringly.
